Real Farm Results from Robotic Milking Trials

Field results show that selecting the right liner can positively influence both cow behaviour and overall performance. We recorded an increase in milkings and robot visits, which indicates that cows are more likely to return to the robot when the milking process feels more natural. This highlights the impact on milking efficiency, cow experience, and lower milk pressure on the udder.

These teat liners have brought me two benefits. The first is an improvement in the teat ends. When drying, you have to search for the teat holes. But just as importantly, there’s been a huge improvement in milk flow. I found switching teat liners quite nerve-wracking. After all, I was switching from rubber to silicone. But the somatic cell count results dropped from 170 to 63. I’m very happy with that. Another thing I’m very pleased with is the interval between changes. With rubber, I had to do it every 2,500 milks. Now it’s every 10,000. That still saves a lot of work. After 2.5 years of milking with AktivPULS, I certainly won’t be going back to another type of liner.

"Fewer mastitis cases thanks to AktivPULS milking liners"

My advisor recommended trying AktivPULS: silicone teat liners with air ventilation and maintaining milking speed. That promise has been fulfilled. The milking speed is now 3.2 liters per minute, the number of mastitis cases has dropped significantly, and the teat tips are in perfect condition.

"Our milking speed has increased from 2.6 tot 3.1 with less teat-end hyperkeratosis and lower cell count"

Started this spring with the AktivPULS teat liner. Our milking speed has increased from 2.6 to 3.1. Additional advantages are quieter milking and less teat-end hyperkeratosis, resulting in less mastitis and a lower somatic cell count.

"With these teat liners, we can milk two or three extra cows whilst still having free time"

We’d always used standard rubber liners until we tried AktivPULS. The cows took a bit of time to get used to them in the first week, and the milking rate dropped slightly, but we’d already made up for that by the second week. The third week was simply brilliant, and after two months we were already achieving a milking rate of 3.4–3.5. We used to consistently achieve a milk flow rate of 2.8/2.9, so that’s a significant improvement. We hadn’t had many issues with udder health either, but we were still a bit worried about whether that would continue. And it certainly did. I can recommend these teat liners to everyone.

"We did it to improve udder health, but it brought us more benefits than we’d expected"

We’ve been milking with AktivPULS teat liners for just under a year now; we started with the M+ but later switched to the L22. We initially introduced them to improve udder health. Our somatic cell count (SCC) was always around 300, and it’s now around 150. Of course, that can’t be down solely to the teat liners, but they’ve certainly contributed to it. We’ve also seen a significant increase in milking speed, and it’s now much quieter in the milking parlour. It’s now a real pleasure to be in the milking parlour. I can definitely recommend these teat liners – they work well!
